Wesley Firefighters Join Regional Live Fire Training in Machias

WESLEY, Maine — March 31st — Recently, the Maine Fire Service Institute in the Machias area organized a regional live fire training exercise in which firefighters from the WVFD took part. Twenty-two Basic Fire School candidates from Downeast departments participated in the evolution, which took place in an acquired structure. Machiasport, Machias, Marshfield, East Machias, Wesley, Whiting, Cutler, Jonesboro, Addison, Epping, and Cherryfield were represented by the participants. Firefighters received training in interior fire attack, hose line advancement, ventilation, and coordinated fireground operations under the guidance of Director Graves and the MFSI Live Fire Team.
While adhering to the stringent safety regulations utilized throughout the fire department, live fire training in acquired structures offers practical experience. According to officials, the training also demonstrated how Washington County departments work together and are committed to preparing firefighters for structural fire response.
