WESLEY, Maine — March 17th — Recently, the Maine Forest Service hosted a wildland fire training course for members of the Wesley Volunteer Fire Department. The instruction concentrated on building fire lines, responding to brush fires, and using hand tools safely during grass and forest fires. In order to enhance coordination during wildland occurrences, the Maine Forest Service frequently collaborates with rural fire departments around the state.

Additionally, safety procedures, fire behavior, and strategies for defending surrounding buildings and wooded areas during brush fires were included in the training. According to department officials, the ongoing collaboration with the Maine Forest Service ensures that local firefighters are still equipped to handle forest and brush fires.
