This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

OGUNQUIT, Maine — March 14th — Recently, OFD members received training in extrication utilizing modern rescue equipment that was funded by the community. The training's main goal was to get firefighters ready to handle catastrophic car crashes where people can be trapped. In order to safely remove patients, crews rehearsed vehicle stability and using hydraulic rescue tools, sometimes referred to as the "Jaws of Life," to cut and spread metal. During complicated rescue situations, these equipment enable firemen to work more effectively.

Members also wore brand-new black turnout gear devoid of PFAS during the training. While providing the protection needed for emergency operations, the improved protective gear helps firefighters be less exposed to some dangerous chemicals. According to department officials, community support is still crucial in supplying tools and training for local emergency response.
