Foster, RI — March 8th — In honor of International Women's Day, the Foster Center Volunteer Fire Company honored the women who serve the Town of Foster as volunteers. Women still contribute significantly to the fire service today, both on emergency scenes and in support roles that enable departments to run efficiently, according to officials.

Women work as officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and administrative leaders across the United States. In remote towns, volunteer agencies depend on that dedication to keep staffing levels high and emergency response times high. Members of the Foster Center Volunteer Fire Company expressed gratitude to the women in the department for their commitment, training, and year-round service. The department conveyed gratitude for their ongoing support of the Foster neighborhood and public safety.
