York Firefighters Train on Water Supply and Ladder Operations

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

York, ME — March 26th — Every week, members of the York Fire Department convened for training centered on ladder work and pump operations. Firefighters practiced hydrant connections, hose deployment, and pump control during structure fire operations while reviewing forward and reverse water delivery tactics. At the same time, another crew practiced aerial operations and ladder placement at a different location using Truck 8. During truck company duties on the fireground, these exercises stress safe placement and access.

The session was attended by 25 members in total. In order to keep firemen competent with both engine and truck company duties, regular training on water supply and ladder operations is still a standard component of department readiness.
