Bourne Fire/Rescue reported on March 31st that the department has received roughly $17,000 via the Massachusetts FY26 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.

The funds will go toward replacing 1,000 feet of supply fire hose and a positive pressure ventilation fan that are now out of service. Department officials stated that updating this equipment will help workers maintain dependable tools throughout fire suppression and ventilation operations.

The remaining monies will also be used to replace the thermal imaging camera assigned to the Shift Commander vehicle. The existing camera is still operational, but it is approaching the end of its service life after nearly 15 years of use, and replacement components are no longer accessible.

Officials commended the State Fire Marshal's Office and Governor Maura Healey for their support of firefighter safety and the Bourne community.
