March 6, 2026 — The Mashpee Fire Department welcomed back a local family for a heartfelt reunion after firefighters assisted with an emergency childbirth just weeks earlier while en route to Cape Cod Hospital. Abby and Andy, along with their newborn and family members, returned to the station to thank Group 4 personnel who helped safely deliver their baby when labor progressed unexpectedly before reaching the hospital. During the visit, the family was treated to a fire apparatus ride and took part in a meaningful recognition ceremony, where Abby pinned the responding attendants with their first “Stork Pins,” a traditional honor recognizing pre-hospital childbirths. Fire officials described the reunion as a memorable and rewarding moment for crews, highlighting the unique and personal impact of emergency medical services. The department extended its gratitude to the family for returning to share the occasion and offered best wishes for continued health and happiness.
