John Murray Receives Distinguished Service Award

On March 20th, Lincoln Fire Rescue presented longtime member John Murray with the 2025 Distinguished Service Award.


Murray received recognition for his 28 years of active service and ongoing contributions to the department. He has held numerous leadership positions, including Chief, and has worked in a variety of line jobs within the firm.


Murray's dedication on and off the fireground was acknowledged by department leaders. He has served on several department committees, including the long-standing BBQ committee, and previously coached the department's softball team. Murray was also recognized as Firefighter of the Year in 2001 and 2021.


Members commended Murray for stepping in to help with administrative and leadership roles when needed, and congratulated him on the award.
