Branchport, Penn Yan, and Geneva Train on Ice Safety

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On March 7th, Branchport Keuka Park Fire Department members joined the Penn Yan Fire Department and the City of Geneva Fire Department for more ice rescue training.

Firefighters worked together on the ice to practice rescue tactics for victims who fall through frozen streams. Officials stated that ice conditions might alter throughout the winter and early spring, making continuous training critical for responder safety and effectiveness.

The joint training gave responders more experience operating in cold-water rescue scenarios while also improving collaboration between surrounding departments.
