23 March 2026 — The Clinton Fire Department officially marked the end of an era as it bid farewell to Engine 45 (45-61), a 2001 American LaFrance apparatus that served the community for over two decades.
Having responded to thousands of emergency calls throughout its years of service, the engine was recently sold by the Town of Clinton to a private collector in New York after no longer meeting current frontline apparatus standards.
Department members reflected on the engine’s legacy and dependable service to the community, noting its role in countless incidents. Engine 45 had already been replaced last year by Wagon 45, ensuring the department continues to meet modern operational demands while honoring the history of its apparatus fleet.
