NORTH TONAWANDA, NY — March 26th — Wendelville Fire Company members recently received training from NAFC firefighters on ground ladder deployment and primary search tactics. Crews performed the methodical interior search techniques used to find individuals during building fires during the training. The placement and use of ground ladders, which facilitate access to higher floors and aid in rescue and ventilation operations, were also examined by firefighters.
In preparation for future advancements in live fire training, the exercise acted as a refresher. Before responding to active crises, departments can improve coordination and communication by training together. Niagara County fire agencies frequently conduct joint drills to make sure crews follow the same safety procedures and tactics. Regular training in search and ladder operations, according to fire officials, keeps firefighters ready to respond to structural fires.
