March 16, 2026 — Bethel Fire & EMS reported that Plumtrees Road and Maple Avenue would be reopening shortly following a multi-vehicle motor vehicle accident involving entrapment. Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, working to safely remove those involved and clear the roadway. The incident marked the second motor vehicle accident within an hour in town, with one occurring in the Stony Hill district and another in the downtown Bethel area. Officials are reminding motorists to use caution while driving, particularly on wet roadways, as conditions contributed to the back-to-back incidents.
