March 14, 2026 — Firefighters from Durham Fire and Rescue joined crews from Pownal Fire & Rescue and North Yarmouth Fire Rescue for a live fire training exercise at an acquired structure in Pownal. The training provided members with the opportunity to operate in realistic fire conditions, enhancing skills in fire behavior recognition, coordinated interior operations, and tactical decision-making in residential settings. Officials noted that acquired structures are invaluable for preparing firefighters to safely and effectively respond to real-world emergencies.
