Lewiston, ME - Firefighters quickly brought a structure fire under control after encountering heavy fire conditions inside a residence on Rachel Boulevard.

The first-arriving engine found a well-established fire in the kitchen and living room areas and initiated an aggressive interior attack. Crews were able to knock down the bulk of the fire within minutes, preventing further spread.

Firefighters remained on scene conducting overhaul operations and checking for extension to ensure all remaining hot spots were extinguished.

One occupant was transported to the hospital with burn injuries. Officials determined the fire originated in the kitchen and was accidental in nature.
