Ex-Chief and Ex-Captain Recognized for 50 Years of Service

MERRICK, NY — February 28th — During a length of service awards ceremony on February 28, the North Merrick Fire Department, located at 2095 Camp Avenue, Merrick, NY, USA, 11566, honored a number of its members for their lengthy careers in the fire service. Both former captain Herb Bartow and former chief James McCauley received recognition for exceeding 50 years of service with the agency. Some members were also honored for reaching 40 and 45 years of service.
Volunteer fire departments frequently give out length of service awards to recognize decades of response, training, and dedication to community safety. While maintaining their training and assisting local operations, volunteer firemen in Nassau County frequently respond to fires, medical emergencies, and other public safety issues.
