Massapequa FD Promotes Volunteer Opportunities to Students

MASSAPEQUA, NY — March 21st — As part of an outreach initiative centered on public education and recruitment, the Massapequa Fire Department, located at 1 Brooklyn Ave., Massapequa, NY, United States, 11758, paid a visit to Massapequa High School on March 21. Students met with Chief Robert Kennedy and former Captain Caitlin Kennedy to talk about volunteer options in the fire department as well as professions in paramedicine and firefighting.


In addition to outlining the certifications and training needed for emergency services, the presentation clarified how local agencies depend on volunteers to support fire and EMS operations. School outreach initiatives, which assist introduce students to public safety duties and encourage future engagement in community emergency services, continue to be a popular recruitment strategy for volunteer departments throughout Nassau County.
