On March 14, firefighters from the Essex Volunteer Fire Department and the Willsboro Fire Department conducted joint ice and cold-water rescue training on Willsboro Bay.

Willsboro hosted the drill, during which firefighters dressed in Heavy Rescue 388 water rescue suits and conducted coordinated rescue situations on the ice. Senior members provided the training and reviewed best procedures for cold-water and ice rescues, focusing on both responder and victim safety.

Members trained various rescue evolutions to prepare crews for winter emergencies on frozen lakes and waterways.

Willsboro Essex EMS offered support during the training, standing by with an ambulance.
