March 18, 2026 — The Town of Montville Volunteer Fire Service has announced that the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has classified the fire danger level as MODERATE for Wednesday across the state, including New London County and the Town of Montville. Officials note that while conditions are not at their most severe, residents should continue to exercise caution when handling open flames and outdoor burning. Burn permits remain valid at this time; however, authorities encourage residents to stay informed and follow all local guidelines to prevent accidental fires. Additional information regarding burn permits and regulations can be accessed through the Town of Montville Fire Marshal’s website. The department will continue to provide updates as conditions change.
