Junior Firematic Squad Joins Bellmore Training

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BELLMORE, NY — March 21st — A practical training session on roof operations and ventilation procedures used during structure fires was held by the Bellmore Fire Department. In addition to reviewing appropriate ventilation techniques and practicing roof cutting, department members and the Junior Firematic Squad worked on recognizing fireground conditions that may have an impact on inside operations and firefighter safety. These kinds of training simulations assist crews in comprehending how controlled ventilation can enhance visibility and lessen heat and smoke during a fire response.

An old shed provided by a local citizen was used for the simulation, giving firemen a realistic structure for hands-on training. This kind of training is routinely provided by departments throughout Nassau County to maintain members ready for fireground operations and to provide junior members with useful experience.
