Farmington Fire Rescue Conducts VES and Ventilation Training to Strengthen Fireground Operations

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

March 19, 2026 — Members of Farmington Fire Rescue participated in a hands-on training evolution focused on Vent-Enter-Search (VES) tactics and the effective use of positive pressure ventilation.

Crews trained on coordinated fireground operations, including ground ladder placement, window entry, rapid room searches, and victim isolation techniques under simulated fire conditions. Emphasis was placed on firefighter safety, decision-making, and maintaining situational awareness in low-visibility environments.

The evolution also incorporated the strategic deployment of ventilation fans to improve interior conditions and support search and suppression efforts. Members practiced proper placement and timing to ensure ventilation complemented interior operations.

Officials noted that continued training like this reinforces critical skills needed during structure fires, ensuring crews remain prepared to respond effectively when seconds count.
