March 19, 2026 — Barrington Fire & Rescue responded to a reported propane odor at the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) at approximately 8:14 a.m.

Upon arrival, crews detected an odor near on-site propane storage tanks, and Eastern Propane was requested to respond. Low-level readings were also identified in parts of the building. No students were present at the time, as the incident occurred prior to the start of the school day.

As a precaution, individuals were kept outside and the school day was ultimately canceled.

Further investigation determined that no active leaks were present. Officials believe the odor was caused by residual propane released during routine tank filling, which was drawn into the HVAC system and circulated throughout portions of the building.
