March 11, 2026 — Bedford Fire Department No. 1 shared an alert issued by the National Weather Service State College office regarding Tornado Watch 45, which was in effect from 1:47 PM until 8:00 PM EDT across portions of central Pennsylvania. The watch included nine counties—Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, and Somerset—impacting communities such as Altoona, Bedford, Chambersburg, Clearfield, DuBois, Huntingdon, Johnstown, McConnellsburg, Mount Union, Somerset, State College, and Waynesboro. Officials urged residents to remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions and to be prepared to take immediate action should warnings be issued, emphasizing the importance of monitoring trusted weather sources and having an emergency plan in place.
