March 10, 2026 — Alachua County Fire Rescue’s Technical Rescue Team has been actively training this year, completing a series of vehicle/machinery and confined space rescue drills throughout February and March.
During vehicle rescue scenarios, crews practiced rolling overturned vehicles in limited-access environments to safely extricate trapped patients. In confined space training, responders operated 15 feet below grade and nearly 100 feet through a storm drain, utilizing air monitoring equipment and hands-free communication to locate and remove a simulated victim.
Officials say these realistic, hands-on evolutions are critical to ensuring crews remain prepared for complex rescue incidents.
