OLIVE, NY — March 6th —  Interior firefighters from the Olive Fire Department Co. #1 Inc. completed annual training and recertification on their personal bailout systems over the past two weeks.

The training focused on emergency escape procedures used during interior firefighting operations. Firefighters practiced deploying their bailout equipment and safely lowering themselves from second- and third-story windows in situations where a normal exit is not available.

Bailout systems are designed to provide firefighters with a last-resort escape option if conditions inside a structure rapidly deteriorate. The recertification is required each year to ensure members remain proficient with the equipment and procedures.
