Irondequoit, NY — February 24th — Recently, members of the Irondequoit Fire District, which operates out of stations at 2960 Culver Road and 405 Empire Boulevard, participated in ice rescue training alongside a number of mutual assistance partners.
Refreshing cold-water rescue techniques utilized in winter emergencies were the main emphasis of the workshop. The district's Rapid Deployment Craft (RDC), self-rescue tactics, and "go rescue" approaches were among the skill stations that firefighters rotated through.
When working on unstable ice, the Rapid Deployment Craft enables teams to securely reach victims. Scenario-based rescue drills that mimic actual occurrences marked the end of each training day. Regular practical training, according to officials, keeps firemen knowledgeable about their tools and ready for ice-related incidents around the area.
