Dryden, NY - In the evening of 11 March 2026, the Dryden Fire Department conducted specialized training focused on the use of newly acquired gas detection and analysis meters. The department has invested in two highly sensitive devices designed to enhance safety and response capabilities for the Dryden community.

These advanced meters are capable of detecting and measuring a range of combustible gases, including natural gas and propane, as well as hazardous toxic gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen.

To ensure proper usage, experts from NYSEG’s gas department led the training session, providing hands-on instruction with equipment identical to those used in their own operations. A total of 22 department members participated in the training.

The Dryden Fire Department expressed appreciation for its strong partnership with NYSEG and their continued support in preparing firefighters for effective gas-related emergency responses.
