Hancock, ME - Members of the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department recently served with distinction as an Honor Guard at the funeral of Lamoine Volunteer Fire Department’s longtime Fire Chief, George “Skip” Smith. Chief Smith dedicated 49 years of service to his department, leaving behind a legacy as a respected leader, a mentor to many, and a cherished member of his community. He was not only a brother to fellow firefighters but also a devoted father, grandfather, and husband whose presence will be deeply missed.

The department extends its sincere appreciation to Assistant Chief Mike Holmes, Lieutenant Joshua Jipson, and Firefighter Brodie Worden for their humble service in supporting Chief Smith’s family and honoring their fellow firefighters at the Lamoine Volunteer Fire Department.
