Severe Thunderstorm Warning Expanded Across Southeast Georgia with Damaging Winds Threat

March 12, 2026 — Appling County Emergency Management Agency reported that the National Weather Service Jacksonville issued an additional Severe Thunderstorm Warning impacting portions of southeastern Georgia, including Pierce, Brantley, Ware, Wayne, and southeastern Appling County, Georgia. The warning remained in effect until 9:45 a.m. EDT as radar indicated a line of strong storms extending from west of Donald to near Boggy Bay, moving east at approximately 45 mph. The primary hazard associated with the storm system is wind gusts up to 60 mph, with the potential to cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Communities in the affected area include Jesup, Blackshear, Nahunta, Patterson, Gardi, Screven, Odum, Offerman, Hickox, and Boggy Bay. Emergency officials emphasized that these storms are potentially dangerous and urged residents to seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure, avoid windows, and leave vehicles if necessary to find safer shelter. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1:00 p.m. EDT, and residents are encouraged to stay alert for rapidly changing conditions and possible tornado development.
