March 8, 2026 — The Sidney Fire Department has announced it will host the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control (NYS OFPC) Apparatus Operator – Aerial Devices course, beginning Tuesday, March 31.

The course is designed to provide firefighters with the knowledge and hands-on skills required to safely operate aerial apparatus, including ladder trucks and other elevated devices commonly used during fire and rescue operations. Training typically focuses on apparatus positioning, stabilization, aerial ladder operations, safety procedures, and practical application during emergency incidents.

Firefighters interested in participating can now register for the class through the New York State Learning Management System (LMS).

Hosting state-certified training courses allows departments like the Sidney Fire Department to support continued education for firefighters while strengthening operational readiness for aerial apparatus responses throughout the region.
