Rumney Fire Department and EMS Report February Responses and Future Integration

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Rumney, NH - During the month of February, the Rumney Fire Department responded to a total of 12 calls for service. These included two motor vehicle accidents, one carbon monoxide alarm, and one report of an odor of gas inside a building.

The department also participated in eight mutual aid assignments, assisting neighboring communities with incidents such as a carbon monoxide alarm in Plymouth, a chimney fire in Groton, building fires in Lincoln and Woodstock, smoke in a building and a structure fire in Warren, and a cover truck assignment and building fire in Canaan.

Rumney EMS was dispatched to 10 calls for service during the same period.

Department members also participated in monthly training focused on Mayday emergency procedures. In addition, two members began their Advanced EMT certification course.

The department is also pleased to announce an important development for the community. Thanks to the support of voters at last year’s town meeting, Rumney Fire Department and Rumney EMS will officially merge later this month to operate as a single organization under the Fire Department.

This unification is expected to improve operational efficiency and provide expanded training opportunities for department members, ultimately enhancing the level of service provided to the community.

Fire and EMS personnel have been working closely together over the past several years and are looking forward to continuing their collaboration under the new unified structure.
