February 28, 2026 — The Colchester Fire Department temporarily closed several roadways while crews responded to a fire incident in the area of Al Shir Road, Bellwood Avenue, and Gregg. Officials initially advised residents to avoid the area as firefighters worked the scene and emergency operations were underway. During the response, the affected roads were shut down to ensure the safety of firefighters, residents, and motorists while crews managed the incident. After operations were completed, authorities announced that the roadways had reopened to normal traffic. However, the local Department of Public Works was notified of icy conditions in the area, and motorists were urged to use caution while traveling through the neighborhood. Fire officials thanked residents for their patience and cooperation while emergency crews worked to safely resolve the situation.
