February 24, 2026 — The Tiverton Fire Department issued a winter weather update advising residents to remain off the roads as heavy snowfall continued to impact travel conditions across the community. Crews from the Tiverton Department of Public Works (DPW) were actively operating plows and heavy equipment throughout town, working to clear primary and secondary roads and make them passable for residents and emergency vehicles. Officials noted that clearing significant snow accumulations, particularly on side streets, takes time and asked the public for patience while crews continue operations. Residents were reminded to avoid unnecessary travel, give snowplow operators plenty of room to work, and ensure emergency vehicles can move safely if needed. The department also expressed appreciation for the dedication of DPW crews working long hours to keep the community safe during the winter storm.
