February 24, 2026 — The Dunn's Corners Fire Department issued a public safety notice reminding residents to check around their homes following recent winter storm conditions. Fire officials encouraged homeowners to take a few minutes to clear snow and ice from important areas that could impact emergency response and home safety. Residents are asked to shovel out fire hydrants near their property to ensure firefighters can quickly access them during an emergency. In addition, the department recommends clearing snow from outside furnace vents, dryer vents, and other appliance exhaust outlets to prevent dangerous blockages that could lead to carbon monoxide buildup inside the home. Officials also reminded residents to check that carbon monoxide detectors are working properly on every level of the home to help protect families from potential hazards during the winter months.
