Bedford Firefighters Prepare Station During Winter Weather

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Bedford, NY — February 21st — In order to maintain safe response conditions and get ready for winter weather, Bedford Fire Department personnel spent hours removing snow and ice from the station grounds. In order to guarantee that fire engines may depart the station promptly upon receiving calls, crews worked on the apparatus apron and surrounding areas. In the Northeast, where snow and freezing temperatures can impact response times, fire departments regularly do winter maintenance.

During emergencies, firefighters can work more safely and effectively if driveways, pathways, and hydrant access points are kept clean. Additionally, these initiatives facilitate the station's access for visiting mutual aid organizations. In order to facilitate emergency response in the Town of Bedford and the adjacent towns, the Bedford Fire Department continues to carry out routine winter readiness duties.
