Athens, NY — March 10th — Members of the Athens Volunteer Fire Department and the West Athens Lime Street Fire Company participated in a joint training practice focusing on inside search operations.

The simulation was held at the former WALS district headquarters, where firemen rehearsed navigating smoke-filled areas and locating victims in simulated fireground circumstances.

Department officials praised the large turnout for the training and underlined the importance of frequent drills in helping firefighters develop cooperation, strengthen operating skills, and maintain emergency response preparedness. Leaders also congratulated the officers and members who planned and took part in the training exercise.
