Ghent, NY — 26th February — Students from the Questar III BOCES Fire Science program attended a practical training session at the PJ Keeler Emergency Services Response and Training Facility presented by the Fire Coordinator Office of Columbia County. Donald R. Kline Technical School students used items frequently found on fire apparatus to simulate forced entrance techniques. Students were able to learn the correct techniques firemen use to enter buildings during crises while working in a controlled setting.
By providing essential skills utilized on the fireground, programs like the Questar III Fire Science course help students get ready for volunteer or career fire service. Tool, ladder, and hose operation drills can be conducted at county training facilities. Before reacting to actual catastrophes, the training helps pupils gain confidence, according to officials.
