The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department confirmed the death of longtime member Ron Jones, who had served the department for 67 active years and 69 years total.
Jones held various leadership positions throughout his career, including Assistant Chief, and was a founding member of the county's High Angle Rescue Team. Department members remembered him as a committed fireman, mentor, and staunch supporter of public service in the Aurora community.
His dedication to the department extended to his family, with four of his children and ten of his grandkids serving alongside him in the fire service.
