Highland EMS asked that the Yulan Fire Department set up a landing zone for an approaching medevac helicopter at 7:30 p.m. on February 13. Firefighters secured the landing area at the Eldred Junior-Senior High School parking lot and helped with scene safety as the plane approached. The helicopter landed safely, and patient care was delegated to the flight crew before the aircraft started transport. Yulan units were on scene for almost an hour to assist with the operation. The Sullivan County Sheriff's Office also gave assistance.
