The City of Schenectady Fire Department collaborated once more with Schenectady Shares to organize the 2026 annual food drive.

The project, which runs from March 3 to April 17, encourages locals to give nonperishable food and personal hygiene supplies. Donations will be accepted at over 60 collection sites across Schenectady County, including all of the city's fire stations.

Organizers plan to gather 30,000 pounds of food and sanitary supplies, as well as $30,000 in financial gifts, to help local families experiencing food insecurity. Officials stated that changes in SNAP and USDA financing have heightened the need for community support. The program focuses on neighbors assisting neighbors across Schenectady County.
