Binghamton Firefighters Conduct HazMat Decon Training

BINGHAMTON, NY — March 3rd — Members of the Binghamton Fire Department underwent hazardous materials training, which focused on the setup and operation of the department's decontamination tent.


During the seminar, firefighters studied techniques for immediately establishing a decontamination corridor during hazardous material events. Proper setup and operation of the system helps ensure victims, responders, and the surrounding community are protected from contamination during hazardous materials events.


According to department officials, continuous training helps personnel retain the accuracy and cooperation essential for HazMat emergencies, where time and precise protocols are critical to safe operations.
