Crews Clear Ice and Snow to Restore Home Access

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Members of the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department on February 7 arrived to help an elderly homeowner who was unable to leave their home owing to heavy snow and ice obstructing the entryway. After receiving the call, eight firefighters went to the house and discovered both exits blocked by heavy amounts of snow and ice. Crews worked to clear the openings, allowing the occupant to securely exit the house if necessary and access the outside for daily activities.
