Westport Firefighters Train on Vehicle Stabilization and Controlled Lifting Techniques

WESTPORT, Conn. — January 14th: Using the Res-Q-Jack® vehicle stabilization device, members of the Town of Westport Fire Department completed practical training with an emphasis on safe and controlled operations during serious motor vehicle incidents. The training was conducted as part of the department's continuous efforts to keep technical rescue capabilities proficient.

In order to provide safe access for the removal of patients, firefighters practiced stabilizing and lifting damaged or flipped automobiles. Stabilization equipment positioning, vehicle movement control, and responder safety when working near confined individuals were all emphasized.
