On January 16th, members of the Little Compton Fire Department, along with regional mutual aid partners, participated in specialized emergency preparedness training focused on Point of Dispensing (POD) operations. The training, conducted at the Tiverton Public Library and led by the Rhode Island Department of Health’s Center for Emergency Preparedness and Response, emphasized the rapid setup and efficient operation of POD sites during large-scale public health emergencies. Participants learned procedures for safely dispensing medications, managing patient flow, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with public health officials. This training ensures that LCFD and its partners remain ready to protect the community by delivering critical medications quickly and effectively should a widespread emergency occur.
