On Sunday, January 21st at 9:00 A.M., the Stony Brook Fire Department hosted an Ice Rescue training at Avalon Duck Pond. The drill went over donning mustang suits which protect members from the harsh conditions in cold and icy water. Members also crawled out onto the frozen pond to work on breaking and cutting ice, as well as victim removal.
