FORKED RIVER, NJ — January 17 — Members of the Wall Township Fire Department and the Whiting Fire Company participated in cooperative ice rescue training with the Forked River Fire Department in January. The session's main goal was to have responders ready for winter emergencies throughout the Forked River coverage area, which consists of multiple lagoons, several ponds, and over a dozen big lakes. In chilly weather, crews coordinated rescue efforts and examined victim access and responder safety. The class was hosted by Whiting Fire Company and instructed by Bob Selfridge of Safety Third Training. Regular, regional training helps guarantee preparedness in the event of ice and cold water events, according to department officials.
