DOWNS: Two people were killed and one person escaped a dwelling fire on South Cook av., Trenton, Nov. 15th. Crews battled the 2-alarm for hours, according to WPVI-TV. A dog also died in the fire. Nine people from an adjoining home were displaced.   

         

UPS: In November, the Hamilton Fire Co. of Neptune Twp. celebrated Harold “Skip” Jelliff's 65-years of service to the community. He has served as chief, fire inspector and mentor.          

 

DOWNS: Hillsdale firefighters responded to an early morning dwelling fire on Ellen Ct., Oct. 21st. Arriving units found a back deck fire extending into the attic. Chief William Farrell said a brief loss of water caused a flashover, forcing firefighters to evacuate the home. A “Mayday” was transmitted and a second-alarm sounded. The Mayday was “promptly cleared and all members were accounted for.” According to Bergen County Deputy Chief of Detectives Jeff Angermeyer, multiple firefighters from Hillsdale and assisting units suffered non-life-threatening burns and other minor injuries. They were transported to area hospitals. No residents were injured, according to the Daily Voice.        

      

UPS: Two Pompton Lakes police officers rescued a woman from a burning Ringwood av. home on Nov. 17th. Officials said the two officers ran into the house and carried the woman out to safety. She was “expected to be OK,” according to News 12. One police officer was treated for smoke inhalation.                   


DOWNS: A multiple-alarm fire raced through three East 9th av. dwellings in Roselle, Nov. 17th. Some 38 residents were displaced, and they were assisted by the American Red Cross. Numerous mutual aid fire companies assisted battling the fire. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, according to WABC-TV.      

       

UPS: Recently, the Livingston Fire Department received new turnout gear with the help of $70,000 through the American Rescue Plan Firefighter 2022 RFP. The township administration committed $34,000 to fully fund the purchase, according to the Livingston Patch.             


DOWNS: Several residents of the Haddonfield Commons complex, in Haddonfield, were displaced due to a fire that involved the building on Nov. 20th. A total of 12 apartments were rendered uninhabitable due to fire and smoke damage, according to reports.         

    

UPS: In October, members of the Livingston F.D. received “Wildlands Fire Training for Structural Firefighting,” from Todd Saccheiro, section forest fire warden of the NJ Forest Fire Service. This training was made possible through cooperation of Eastman Management Corps., a supporter of the Livingston Emergency Services.           

  

DOWNS: Six people were injured as the result of a multiple-alarm fire involving a Stiles St. dwelling in Elizabeth, Nov. 22nd. A neighbor told News 12 that people were seen jumping from windows of the burning building. The Red Cross assisted 12 residents.              


UPS: North Arlington Schuyler Engine Co. 2 has made arraignments to donate spare Engine 6's 1992 Pierce pumper to the Dominican Republic, along with firefighting gear, according to a Facebook post.             


DOWNS: As Jersey City firefighters battled a fire in a one-family dwelling on Baldwin av., Nov. 22nd, they found an unconscious 79-year-old man with serious injuries, officials said. The victim was taken to Cooperman Barnabas M.C. in critical but stable condition.       

      

UPS: In November, the Paramus F.D. presented representatives of The Valley Hospital with a plaque in recognition of their donation towards renovations at Fireman's Memorial Park, at Forest av. & Spring Valley Rd. The donation was used to fund a new monument.        

       

DOWNS: Two sisters died saving their disabled father from a raging fire on Mosswood av., Orange, Thanksgiving Day. They were overcome as they guided their father out of the home, according to WPIX. Their dad was able to escape unscathed, along with six others that were inside the home.     

         

UPS: In November, Michael Hook and Roman Winfred were promoted to battalion chief in Paterson. New captains are Kenneth Brewington and Kyle Broadfield.
