RIGS OF NONTRADITIONAL COLORS

Author’s note: In the September column it was reported by one of our dealer’s that the Pennington Road Fire Company in Ewing Township (Mercer County) ordered a pumper. I have since been advised that apparently the updated designation is now Ewing Township Fire Department, Station 30.
This month we feature two fire departments in Gloucester County) who broke tradition some time ago when the members decided they did not want apparatus of a traditional color. One is Whitman Square in Washington Township and the other is Port Norris. In the case of Whitman Square, they decided on robin’s egg blue as their color and Port Norris members noticed a 1990 Seagrave pumper from Keyport (Monmouth County) with a color that attracted them. That color is Cadillac red. That is how it was described to me when it was delivered and I photographed it for the dealer. It is sort of a deep maroon. Port Norris picked a different roof color than Keyport. Colors today are so numerous they are now only describing them with a number rather than a shade. In the photos from Whitman Square is their newest E-1022, a Spartan ER with a Gladiator LFD chassis. Specs include a Cummins L9, 450 hp diesel engine, Hale DSD single-stage 1500 gpm pump, Pro Poly 750 gallon water tank, Akron Apollo deck gun, Akron Mercury hand monitor, 1 ¾-inch front bumper line, six-inch front and rear intakes and Whelen scene lighting. Next is a XE-1021, a 1981 American LaFrance Century Telesqurt which was retired and later served with a couple of out of state FD’s according to sources. It was last used on a farm and the farmer sold it back to the fire company. It can be placed in service if needed. Utility 1027 is next and is 2000 International/Saulsbury and then L-1026 a 2018 Pierce Enforcer PUC, with Ascendant aerial and last is E-1021, a 2003 Spartan Gladiator/Saulsbury pumper. Port Norris photos consist of Tender 1111, a 2012 Mack Granite/KME elliptical tanker and E-1103 a 2005 Spartan Advantage Flat Floor/Elite pumper with a large water tank. In dealer news Firefighter 1 has delivered a Ferrara heavy rescue to the North Hudson Regional Fire Rescue (Hudson County.) It is on an Igniter chassis and ahs a walk-in body of extruded aluminum. Firefighter 1 also had taken in a 2004 Seagrave pumper from the Budd Lake VFD (Morris County) when they sold them their new rescue and has since sold the pumper to the Greeley, PA VFD.
VCI Emergency Vehicle Specialists has made the following ambulance deliveries: to the McCabe Ambulance Service in Bayonne (Hudson County) two 2021 AEV Fleethawks on Ford E-350 chassis; to Lacey Township EMS (Ocean County) a Horton remount on a 2019 Ford E-450 chassis; to Cooper University Healthcare in Camden, the first of five Ford T-350 AEV Transit Type II’s; To the Cherry Hill FD (Camden County) a second AEV 172 on a Ford E-450 chassis ; to the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance Rescue Squad (Hunterdon County) an AEV Type III on a 2020 Ford E-350 chassis; to the Long Hill FAS (Morris County) a Horton 553 Type III on a 2019 Ford E-450 chassis; to the Vineland FD (Cumberland County) a second Horton 553 on a 2019 Ford E-350 chassis and to the Buena Vista Township EMS (Atlantic County), a Horton 553 Type III on a 2019 Ford E-450 chassis.
First Priority Emergency Vehicles apparatus division reports the delivery of a KME custom rescue pumper to the Mantua Township FD in Gloucester County. Specs include a Severe Service LFD chassis with 10 inch raised roof cab, 16,500 pound front mounted winch, Hale Qmax 2000 gpm pump with side mount panel, 750 gallon poly water tank, stainless steel Flex 179 inch body with low hose bed, full height/width and depth compartments, roof top compartments, ROM doors, easy access ground ladders down to frame rail, Harrison 20 kw PTO generator, Will Burt Night Scan and new Mantua blacked out color scheme with all bright surfaces blacked out.
First Priority’s EMS division reports the following ambulance deliveries: Four First Priority remounts on Ford E-450 chassis (Laurel Lake EMS in Commercial Township, Millville FD, both Cumberland County, Freehold EMS in Monmouth County and Jersey Shore Hatzolah. Also Central Jersey Hatzolah received a Demers MXP150 on a Ford F-350 4 x 4 chassis. Orders include for the Old Bridge Township EMS (Middlesex County) two Crestline CCL150 Type III ambulances on Ford E-350 chassis and for Central Jersey Hatzolah two Demers MXP150 on Ford F-350 4 x 4 chassis.
Absolute Fire Protection has delivered the two E-ONE Typhoon rescue pumpers to Teaneck (Bergen County.) They are designated “squads” and have storage for rescue tools and equipment from their 2006 E-ONE heavy rescue which was disbanded and the apparatus sold ti the Ramsey Rescue Squad in the same county. Absolute was contracted to refurb this vehicle for Ramsey. Specs on the Teaneck squads include Cummins L9, 450 hp diesel engines, Hale Qmax, 1500 gpm pumps, UPF 780 gallon water tanks, an Akron Apollo deck gun with TFT Extenda-Gun, 1 ¾-inch front bumper line, one-inch booster reel midship mounted on the right side and HiViz scene lighting.
They received and order from South Amboy (Middlesex County) for two Typhoon pumper for Engines’ 9 and 10. They are prepping two Typhoon pumpers with low hosebeds for the Lawrence Road and Slackwood Fire Companies in Lawrence Township (Mercer County) and a 2000 gallon stainless steel, wetside tanker on a Peterbilt 567 chassis for Kinnelon (Morris County.)
Blaze Emergency Equipment reports the delivery of a Sutphen custom pumper to Lower Alloways Creek FD-Hancocks Bridge, Salem County. Specs include a Monarch chassis with 73 inch long aluminum cab with 10 inch raised roof, aluminum body, Cummins L9, 450 hp diesel engine, power windows, eight seats (seven with SCBA) cab interior custom compartments, Waterous CMU, two stage 2000 gpm pump, 1000 gallon poly water tank, two full flow four-inch LDH discharges, three preconnected speedlays, 100% stainless steel piping, booster reel, deck gun with TFT Extenda-Gun, adjustable swing-out tool board, fully enclosed ladder and hard suction compartment and a 6 kw hydraulic generator.
Fire & Safety Services reports the following Pierce orders: For the Scullville FC in Egg Harbor Township (Atlantic County) a Kenworth 880 elliptical tanker and for Ramtown in Howell Township (Monmouth County) an International 507, 4 x 4 interface/wildland pumper. Pierce deliveries include a Velocity pumper to Garfield (Bergen County), an Enforcer 55 foot Skyboom to Linden (Union County), an Enforcer pumper to Somers Point FC 1 and an Enforcer PUC pumper to FC 2 (Atlantic County) an Enforcer heavy duty rescue pumper to Eatonown (Monmouth County) and an Enforcer pumper to Green Township in Sussex County.
Seagrave Sales & Service received the following two orders in Somerset County: For the North Branch FC in Branchburg (Station 49). A pumper on a Marauder chassis with 190 inch wheelbase, 141 inch stainless steel cab and 25 inch cab access compartments. Other specs include a Cummins L9, 450 hp diesel engine, 12 inch short front bumper, Waterous CSU, 2000 gpm pump, stainless steel pump plumbing, Elkhart #240, 95 gpm foam system, 750 gallon water and 20 gallon foam tanks, 146 inch stainless steel flush body, On Spot tire chains, rear intake in rear compartment, FRC scene lighting and FireTech scene lights. Also for the Franklin Park FC in Franklin Township, a pumper on a Capitol chassis with a 193.5 inch wheelbase, 142 inch stainless steel cab with eight inch raised roof and 27 inch cab access compartments. Other specs include a Cummins L9, 450 hp diesel engine, 24 inch Line-X front bumper, Waterous CMU, two-stagte 1500 gpm pump, stainless steel pump plumbing, 46 inch stainless steel operator’s stand, 500 gallon water tank, 155 inch stainless steel full depth flush body, and FireTech HiViz combination scene light package.
Emergency Equipment Sales & Service has delivered an HME Ahrens-Fox pumper to Newtonville in Buena Vista Township (Atlantic County.) Specs include an HME 1871W chassis with Cummins L9 diesel engine, Ahrens-Fox 1750 gpm single-stage stainless steel pump (the first Ahrens-Fox pump in NJ), 1000 gallon water tank, stainless steel rescue pumper body with top mount panel, front and rear intakes and Harrison hydraulic generator. Their ambulance division has delivered to Hackensack-Meridian Health their eight remount. This one is of a Wheeled Coach Type III module onto a Ford E-350 chassis. Also a custom Type III Excellance ambulance is being prepared for delivery to the Florence Township Fire District 1 (Burlington County.) it is based on a 2021 Ford E-450 chassis and is a custom build with custom cabinetry, length and height. It also features Whelen lighting and an EES installed Stryker Powerload System and Excellance’s fully welded roll-cage construction.
Campbell Supply LLC has delivered to Wayne Township FC 1 (Passaic County) the 2004 Spartan Gladiator/Saulsbury pumper refurbished by Spartan ER at their Pennsylvania plant.
