On March 23, 2026, the Camden County Fire Alarm Room received a call reporting a house on fire on 27th Street in the East Camden section of Camden and the box was transmitted. Battalion 2, Ed Stratton, arrived in one minute and reported heavy fire showing from 2715 Federal Street which is a two story, ordinary constructed, row home just 1/2 block away from the Eastside firehouse. The All Hands was transmitted. The engine companies deployed a douce and a half and several other 1 3/4" handlines to attack the fire and protect the attached exposures. Deputy Chief Frank Sandrock (Car 4) arrived and assumed command and BC Ed Stratton became the Operations Chief. Due to the deteriorated conditions of the building, at 1252 hours, the order was given to transition to defensive operations. At 1259 the roof collapsed. Ladder 3 was positioned in front of the fire building and utilized their elevated master stream as fire went through the roof and threatened the B and D exposures. Ladder Co 1 went to the roof and vented the roof. The companies were able to keep the fire from extending into either of the attached exposures. Several pets were removed safely from the B exposure. The fire was placed under control at 1340 hours.
