This is a soft cover book measuring six inches by nine inches and has 175 pages. It is written by a retired FDNY battalion chief who at the time of 9/11 was a covering captain at Engine 216 in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. Daniel Suhr was a firefighter at Engine 216 on 9/11. He passed away from his injuries on that day however the author credits him with saving the lives of the crew of Engine 216. I will let you read how. But first I would like to tell you about FF Suhr as explained by the author and the members of that firehouse. Daniel was married and had a two year old daughter. He was a family man but also he was a human being that cared about not only doing the right thing, but learning as much as he could about the job and making his co-workers rely on him , but also to make any member coming to the station be “at home” whether they were detailed for a shift or a period of time. In short, he was a man who believed in doing things the right way. This is a tragic story but one put together not only by the author but by many that he consulted with about Danny, the scene of 9/11 and the operations of Engine 216 who was assigned to respond eventually as the number of alarms added up. The story is told in a very rapid way but also in an honest and reverent way. There are 20 chapters plus acknowledgements, notes, a bibliography, and an FDNY glossary. Proceeds of the book are being donated to charity.
