DOWNS: Two parents died as a result of a fire in an apartment house fire on West Front St., Plainfield, Nov. 30th. The parents and their two small children were all taken to a hospital, where the parents later died, according to ABC-7. Over 90 people were displaced. 

                

UPS: In Hackensack, Aaron Hilliard has been promoted to fire captain. Thomas Kavanagh is the new lieutenant.  

                 

DOWNS: A 3-alarm fire involved three 14th Avenue dwellings in Newark, Nov. 30th. More than 50 people were displaced, officials said.  

                 

UPS: New firefighters in Woodbridge are Jonathan Alves, Anthony Alves, Margaret Rodas and John Alcott.  

                 

DOWNS: A multiple-alarm fire consumed a home on Goffle Rd., in Hawthorne, Dec, 1st. Police Captain Robert King said the two-family dwelling was, “possibly one of the oldest homes in town.” Heavy fire caused a collapse in the rear of the house along the roof area, according to the Daily Voice.  

                 

UPS: Two new firefighters in Jersey City are Aramis Azize and Oliver French.  

                 

DOWNS: Fire involved a Center St. dwelling in Garwood, Nov. 29th. Firefighters from two mutual aid companies were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to reports.  

                 

UPS: New firefighters in Hackensack are Mark Alberque, Kelly Possehl and Steven Tufano. According to a Facebook post, on December 16th, the HFD manpower was up to 106.  

                 

DOWNS: An elderly Leonia woman was injured as the result of a fire at the Lakeview Apartments, Dec. 4th. The woman had been brought out of the building prior to first responders arrival, according to Independent Online news. She was taken to Hackensack UMC for treatment. The fire was quickly knocked down, according to Fire Chief John Dunn.  

                 

UPS: New firefighters in Perth Amboy are Jonathan Torres and Kenneth Taylor III.

                 

DOWNS: Bayonne firefighters battled a fire on the third-floor of an eleven-story high rise building on Avenue A, Dec. 23rd.  An occupant of the original fire apartment was removed by firefighters and transported to a local hospital where she died, according to a city O.E.M. Facebook post. Three residents and eight police officers were taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation. Four other residents were treated at the scene and refused further medical treatment.  

                 

UPS: Newly appointed career firefighters in Princeton are Adam Szysko, Madison Luck and Patrick Esmerado.     

                 

DOWNS: A 72-year-old woman became trapped under an auto when she was walking on Paterson av. at Lincoln Pl. in East Rutherford, Dec. 23rd. Firefighters from East Rutherford and Wallington lifted the vehicle to free the pedestrian, according to the Daily Voice. The victim was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center with numerous injuries, including head trauma.

                 

UPS: In December, at the conclusion of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation Seventh Annual Season of Hope, the organization announced fallen families that have received mortgage free homes. This included the family of Plainfield Fire Lt. Marques Hudson and NJ State Police Trooper II Marcellus Betha.    

                 

DOWNS: Two pilots were killed when two helicopters collided in mid-air and crash landed, approximately two-miles from the Hammonton Municipal Airport, Dec, 28th. According to the FAA, the crash involved an Enstrom F-28A and Enstrom 280C helicopter. One erupted in flames Hammonton police said.         

                  

UPS: In December, the City of Englewood renamed a portion of William Street to “Lieutenant William Stimper Way.” The lieutenant gave his life in the line-of-duty while operating at a structure fire at 70 William Street, December 12th, 1952. In addition, a bronze plaque has been commissioned to be placed on display at Fire Headquarters so that future generations will always remember the lieutenant.                                       

                   

DOWNS: A fire in an Old Bridge dwelling, on Cherry Creek Dr., sent a firefighter to the hospital and displaced four residents, December 28th. According to police, the fire appears to have started in the garage and may have been caused by a space heater.  

                   

UPS: In Hoboken, Joseph Grossi was promoted to the position of Provisional Deputy Chief. Michael Stefano is the new Battalion Chief. Brian Crimmins has returned to his position as Chief of Department. New firefighters are Jason Blanks, Maximus Richards and Joshua Santiago.
